What You Need to Know

Netflix is a frequent target for phishing emails that ask for credit card updates or personal information. These emails may look legitimate with the Netflix logo, but often lack personal details like your name or account number and come from unrelated email addresses. The subject line may even contain typos, like “Subcription” instead of “Subscription” (note the missing “s”).

Clicking the links could either lead to a fake website to steal your personal information, take your money, or download malware that logs your keystrokes, potentially leading to identity theft, computer hacking and account fraud.

What You Should Do

  • Don’t give any personal information including credit card information and your social security number through emails you have received.
  • If you think a request for your information or credit card from Netflix is legit, then reach out to Netflix through their official website to avoid any scams.
  • Check the sender of the email to see if it is from a random email address that has nothing to do with Netflix or an email address that has spelling errors.
